A BOY AGAIN!!

Image
I am a mother of three boys! A full grown man( my husband) a six year old ( a super hyper one) and an almost three month old ( almost because i have lost track of the sleepless nights) When i concieved my youngest i got two types of reactions... The "thank god someone is also having a second child" look And The " she has guts and she is nuts" look.  Well most of my friends had the second look and the first look was from friends who couldn't hide the second one. No it wasnt guts..... it was an excited sperm which pretty much fooled us. Initially I went through a guilt trip of loosing the dedication i had for my 6 year old. It's amazing how we worship our first borns ....but that didn't last so long...  I started dreaming of how I would be blessed with a baby girl. How i could also boast of pinks in my house, the pretty dresses people could gift her Visa a vis  the boring blues, how she could be the Papas girl, and husband could grow to be a

A note to new moms from a new mom.

Kindly donot read further if you are not a mom or are an expecting mom.. This is only for all those new moms who have asked every other mommy.. where is the joy you told me...why did you insist I was missing something...hell has broken lose on me...well most new moms feel the same.... most have gone through the guilt of not finding joy the first few months. People often write " the best moment in my life was when I saw my child". Well I had normal deliveries both time and the first thing that crossed my mind was.. " am I still alive?" Then starts the unending story of feeding.. they will feed every two hrs, every hr, every half hr, every twenty minutes, every ten minutes, 5 minutes , every minute, sec, millisecond..  they don't want to leave you. You are the milk giving machine. You are the comforter. They will stick to you. You hang on mommy. Indian moms, like myself, will be out on a ghee diet by mils and mothers, basically no fruits less veggies, no sour,

Ten simple games for kids

Image
I have had lot of fun playing the games listed below. My six year old calls it mouth games. On those rainy days or while travelling where we could not run around they came very handy for a hyper child. The screen time while lunch of dinner was also taken care of. Hope you enjoy them as much as we do. 1 . Word Antakshari A game for the time when kids start associating sounds to alphabets. All you have to do is say a word with the letter which the previous word ends with. So if A says "bat", B has to say a word with Alphabet "t" like "train".  A the has to say a word with "n".The only rule is you can't repeat the word some one has already said. 2 . Spot the colour We started playing the as soon as  my kid and his friends were learning colors. I had to say a color and they had to spot anything around with that color. Either you ask the kids one after the other or ask them together and they spot two different things of the same co

Aloo ..... meri jaan

I have never been able to understand the fixation of Indian moms of last generation with the Aloo. The amazement started with visit to my in laws just after marriage. A huge...like huge can was filled with fried aloo  papads... I wondered why she needed so much with just two of them staying. The entrepreneur in me said.. She would be selling these.. good business.. The next day she fried them...them all..and kept them in front of my lazy husband..... I was in the " so much calorie??" phase... my jaw dropped to see him.. munch away the papads one after the other...crunch crunch crunch...there goes another one.. before the plate finished it was dutifully replenished by my mil... who had that satisfying look...mere bachhe  ne kuch  khaya... Before the afternoon seista  with the aloo  papads  finished... I could hear my mil  discuss... aaj  aloo  paratha  banega....next day morning.. it was aloo  poha, lunch was aloo matar, aloo gobhi...and so on No vegetable was left alone.
